::Chinese New Year 2006::

Ethnic Chinese Malaysians today celebrate the coming of Year of the Dog.

Went to one of the temples in Ampang in the morning after so many days of no shooting. Luckily the uncle there was quite "media friendly". Managed to get several pics. Towards the end, the uncle even offered us Chinese tea but we politely declined and had tehtarik session at one of the mamak restaurants nearby.

An auntie and her grand daughter lighting a spiral joss stick.

Deep in praying for prosperity and health

::Pasar Besar Siti Khadijah::

Balik raya haji ke Kelantan. THinking to shoot landscape and seascapes but the weather wasnt that promising. Changed plan and came to K Bharu town to shoot indoor Pasar Siti Khadijah.

Pasar Besar Siti Khadijah used to be known as Pasar Buluh Kubu. Located at the centre of Kota Bharu town, the market is selling almost everything you need from food items to non-food items. Diambil bersempena nama isteri Rasulullah SAW, Siti Khadijah yg seorang peniaga wanita yg berjaya.

One thing you would notice when you enter the market is that almost all are businesswomen. That's what makes this market unique.

Find me!

To those that have never visited this pasar before, i highly recommend you to come here and experience it yourself.

Rest of the pics here http://www.pbase.com/afaizal/pasar_besar_siti_khadijah

::Zara & Quoris:: Jitra, Kedah Darul Aman

Akad nikah was held at Jitra, Kedah on 17 December 2005 on a cool and wet Saturday morning. Reception was planned on 18 December 2005 at the bride's home. However, the bride's home was flooded and the venue was shifted to Darul Aman Golf Club.

To both of them, all the best!

KTMB Building

Happy New Year 2006 all!!
This is my first entry for the year....hehhee....

Yesterday went to KTMB Building. It was such a beautiful building with a very unique Moorish architecture. The light was quite ok. It was reaching afternoon already after long breakfast at Nasi Lemak Tanglin.. hahaha...

anyway, managed to fill up all my CFs shooting this antique building....hehehe.. Managed to shoot KTMB Railway station but not much.

The building was designed by British architect named Mr. A.B. Hubbock in 1913 and completed in November 1917 after being halted by the 1st World War. The cost of building it was RM780,422. The building adopted Moorish unique architecture and together with elements from 13th and 14th century Ottoman and Mogul empires as well as Gothic and ancient Greek designs.

The ground floor has 97 large arched windows of Gothic design and four circular arches of smaller ones. The high and wide verandas create a cooling effect and suitable for high temperature of Malaysia.

This building suffered serious damage in its lifetime; North Wing was bombed during Second World War and in Nov 14, 1968 the second floor of the same wing was gutted by fire.

In 1983, the KTM Berhad headquarters was gazetted as an "Old Monument and Historical Site" and is fully protected under Sections 15 and 16, Historical Relics Act 168/1976.

Here are some of the images taken. As usual, for the rest of the pics, here http://www.pbase.com/afaizal/kuala_lumpur_railway_building

It has been an eventful year to me. Shot a few weddings this year and alhamdulillah most of them liked what they saw.

Selected 12 of 2005

Well, 2005 is coming towards the end. Have we really looked back what we have done and what we have achieved in the last 12 months? Can we really recall what we have done for the past 12 months?

Me? No, i cant remember what i did on Jan 12, 2005 or October 10, 2005. My memory are very limited. But i only have these images that i can show what i have taken. I'd say these are my selected images taken this year. For me each and every one holds a different story. Each has its own character. I would not put them as the best of my images. Best are subjective. The same goes with beautiful, nice, ugly etc etc.

Anyway, I leave it to you to judge.

Here they are in no particular order. I hope you have a good year and coming year too, insyaAllah.

1. Till death do us apart - Yaya and Eizan wedding

2. Blur shot

3. Rudinara Salinger residence

4. le tour 2005

5. Merdeka hug - Kak Pidah and Tun Mahathir reconciled? Heh...

6. Simple plan live in KL - Jeff Stinco in action

7. Masjid Putrajaya during Maghrib time

8. Wild Zebra stage performance at Istana Budaya

9. MotoGP 2005

10. Terengganu beach - Hanis and the blue skies

11. Masjid Putrajaya

12. Silhouette of a vessel waiting for repair at Pasir Gudang

I think 2005 is a good year to me. Hopefully 2006 would be better than this year.
Hope yours too!

Other images taken this year can be viewed here http://www.pbase.com/afaizal/2005
